Wolves bow out of playoffs

The season ended too early for hitters after they lost to Lake Orion in the MHSAA District Semifinals, June 4.
The Clarkston Boys Varsity Baseball team lost 10-0.
“We were overmatched,” said head coach, Phil Price. “Their pitcher, Nick Deeg, threw a great game against us. We had one hit. It was a battle and it just wasn’t our day. Baseball is like that sometimes. I was proud of our kids. They competed.”
Lake Orion went on to win the district title after a defeat over Oxford.
He added seniors Jake Forsten and Dylan Peck did a nice job during the game.
The boys finished the season with a 22-10 record and second place in the OAA Red.
“We had a really good year,” Price added. “Nick Mazzone and Ryan Rea have been good all year.”
The season began with a young team after losing a majority of seniors from last year’s roster. Price added this year’s four seniors -Forsten, Peck, Chris Dickey and Alex Barta – really boosted the team.
“They really did a nice job for us,” said Price. “They added a lot of leadership. They did a lot of mentoring and they steered the team in the right direction. Hopefully the underclassmen were paying attention and I think it will carry over to the next year for sure.”
