Lady Cagers are on a roll after scoring two more wins on their opponents last week.
The Clarkston Girls Varsity Basketball team beat Chicago Bogan in the Best of Michigan Holiday Classic at Dearborn Heights Robichaud on Saturday, 65-62.
Junior Erika Davenport led in the overtime win with 34 points and 16 rebounds.
Davenport also led the Lady Wolves in their 35-25 win over Lake Orion, Dec. 10. She scored 21 points during the game.
“She is pretty tough,” said Tim Wasilk. “She finishes well and rebounds really well. She did some good things. She was battling a little bit of a sickness but she came out and played pretty hard.”
The Wolves took the lead in the first quarter when Davenport when on a 7-1 run, putting the girls ahead 11-4.
Lake Orion held on by outscoring Clarkston 8-7 in the second quarter but they couldn’t pull ahead.
The Lady Dragons were close in the fourth quarter when they hit a 3-point shot to close the score 25-21.
Davenport and Kacy Robinson created more distance on the board scoring a total of eight points between them.
Robinson added 11 points in the game.
“Lake Orion did a nice job,” Wasilk added. “It was a rivalry game and we knew it was going to be a ball game. We were pretty patient and moved the ball around. We have some work to do on the offensive end ? no doubt about it. We found a way to claw and fight and take care of business.”
The Lady Wolves begin their OAA Red play this week as they hosted Southfield-Lathrup on Tuesday and head to Pontiac on Friday.
JV begins at 5:30 p.m., varsity follows at 1051 Arlene in Pontiac. ~WAR
