What hunger’s like

Kids from four area churches; including The Lake Orion United Methodist Church, Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church in Lake Orion, Seymour Lake United Methodist Church in Oxford and St. Anne’s in Ortonville; gathered at Christ the Redeemer on Feb. 25, to begin a 24-hour fast to raise money for the World Vision organization.
About 90 kids took part in the event, which began at 6 p.m. on Friday and ran through 6 p.m. on Saturday, when the fast was broken with a meal at the church.
Friday night the kids spent the night in the church, and took part in awareness activities, which helped them understand how people live in other parts of the world.
On Sunday, the kids did different service projects throughout the area. All of the money raised from the event was to go to help in Kenya and Sudan in Africa.
Any money raised beyond World Vision’s goal will go to help the Tsunami victims.
Lake Orion United Methodist had a goal of raising $2,500, and Christ the Redeemer have already surpassed their goal of $2,000, raising $3,500.
