A big welcome to Sgt. Robert Brudvig who recently signed on as the new sheriff’s substation commander in Addison Twp.
Brudvig replaced Sgt. Pete Burkett, who transferred to Brandon as their substation commander, on Dec. 10.
Beginning his career in law enforcement as an intern at the Hancock Police Department in the Upper Peninsula in 1985, Brudvig quickly moved into the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) in 1989.
While with the OCSD, Brudvig ‘did little stints in pretty much all the substations,? including one month in Addison Twp.
He made the Rochester Hills substation his home in 1995, where he served as a deputy and sergeant. Two-and-a-half years ago, he became detective sergeant and a liaison officer for Rochester Community Schools.
Brudvig, who resides near New Baltimore with his wife of 20 years, Rebecca, and two children in high school, now has six deputies under his command in Addison.
He enjoys being an OCSD sergeant because each day’s work brings different situations and new obstacles to overcome.
‘I like the challenge and I like that it’s not necessarily the same thing every day,? he said.
When he’s not busy running the substation, Brudvig enjoys playing football, basketball, golf and coaching a girls travel basketball team through the Amateur Athletic Union Club.
Because he feels Sgt. Burkett did ‘an excellent job? while he was in Addison, Brudvig said he doesn’t plan to change the routine much.
‘My goal would be just to make it a great department,? he said.
Brudvig said he’d really like to get to know more people in the community, and that everyone at the township office has been very welcoming.
‘I’ve been blessed with open arms, and everyone’s been nothing but great,? he said.
The Addison Twp. sheriff’s substation is located at 1440 Rochester Rd. in Leonard. Brudvig encourages anyone to stop by and say ‘hi.?
