Victory at Fenton tournament

Spikers went 3-2 for the day at the Lake Orion tournament on Aug. 28.
They won the first round of playoffs against Seaholm then lost the second round to Macomb Dakota after going point for point with them.
“I was happy with the way we played,” said Clarkston Varsity Volleyball Coach Kelly Avenall. “They have one of the best players in the state and they know. They played against her in the offseason.
“It makes us better,” Avenall added. “Losing early helps us see where our weaknesses lies and what we need to work on. Everything helps league play and when we get to the post-season.
Brianna Frakes had 10 aces and 99 assists during the day. Katie Chadwell had eight aces, 31 kills and nine blocks and Taylor Dellinger had 37 kills and 22 digs.
The girls swept the tournament at Fenton, beating Davison, 25-17, 25-13; Brighton, 25-15, 25-22; and Fenton, 25-23, 25-22.
Dellinger had 33 kills and Frakes had 65 assists.
The Lady Wolves head to the Grand Blanc Classic on Saturday, 8:30 a.m.
