Walk through local historic and newly built area homes and get a chance to win $10,000 this weekend, all for SCAMP.
The 31st Annual Clarkston SCAMP Home Tour is Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2.
For Patrons’ Evening, arrive between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Homes will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Check-in for tours on Sunday is 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with homes open from
noon to 5:00 p.m. Check-in for both events takes place in downtown Clarkston’s Depot Park.
Saturday evening festivities, which is catered by Pine Knob Carriage House, includes food, music, drinks, live and silent auctions, and raffle drawing for $10,000.
SCAMP’s Executive Director Donna Clancy said six homes are included in the event this year.
‘People have graciously opened up their homes,? she said.
She added while people are anxious to see old homes in the area, they also like to walk through new homes.
Out of the six included in the Home Tour, four are historic homes in downtown, and two are newer. Reservations are recommended for the Home Tour, but those wishing to attend can sign up at the park on the day of the event.
The Home Tour is the biggest fund raiser for SCAMP, a five week summer day camp program for kids and young adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs. During the camp, attendees participate in a variety of activities including hiking, swimming and boating .
Clancy said after all expenses were paid last year, the home tour raised $60,000 for SCAMP.
Over 200 students in northern Oakland County and southern Genesee County attend SCAMP, this year from June 24-July 31. SCAMP is funded by the community, and donations made to the SCAMP are tax deductible.
About 250-300 people are expected to attend Patron’s Night and over 500 are expected to attend on Sunday.
