It was a milestone night in the pool at Southfield-Lathrup High School as the Wildcats? improved to 4-0 in Oakland Activities Association.
Senior Matthew Campagiorni established a school record for diving with a 207.5, and sophomore Jarred Butler’s time of 1:49.88 in the 200 Freestyle broke the school record and qualified him for the state finals during the Wildcats 148-33 victory over the Chargers.
Diving saw a Wildcat sweep with Campagiorni finishing first, freshmen Jared Tasch second and sophomore Marco Campagiorni third.
The Wildcats swept the top two spots in each relay event on the event.
The A relay of sophomore Blake Hibdon, senior Dwight Merrill, sophomore Erick Vandecar and senior Joey Tasch finished first in 1:56.26 in the 200 Medley Relay, while the B relay of junior Corey Jones, freshmen Cheyne Stresky, sophomore Tim Cook and junior Nico McNeil was second.
The relay teams also claimed the top two spots in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with the A relay finishing first in 3:49.30.
Oxford’s A relay team of Tasch, Jones, McNeil and Butler won the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:42.27, while the B relay of senior Daniel Stockard, freshmen Chad Scribner, senior Sean Thomas and Hibdon finished second.
In addition to sweeping the relays, the Wildcats also swept every individual event except the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Butterfly.
Vandecar finished first in the 200 Individual Medley in 2:19.04, while Scribner was fourth.
Vandecar also won the 100 Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:13.88. Merrill was second and sophomore Doug Butkiewicz was third.
The 200 Freestyle saw Butler come in first and seniors Thomas and Stockard finish second and third respectively.
Butler also finished first in the 100 Butterfly, followed by Cook in second and Scribner in fourth.
Tasch finished first in the 50 Freestyle in a time of 24.53, while McNeil was second and Stresky was third.
Thomas won the 100 Freestyle event in 59.72, while Butkiewicz was second and junior Devon Wagner placed third.
Stresky captured the 500 Freestyle in 5:21.72, while Hibdon and sophomore Lewis Marshall finished second and third respectively.
In the 100 Backstroke, Jones finished first in a time of 1:10.99. Stockard finished second and sophomore Chris Lavender was third.
