Swimmers continue to prove themselves to their Division 1 competitors.
They lost to North Farmington last Thursday, 128-56.
‘It’s frustrating to them, we don’t have the numbers,? said Girls Swim Coach Kenwyn Chock .
‘I told them it’s like the Olympics. There are people who made the Olympics but we didn’t see them because they didn’t get into the finals.?
During their first meet against Grand Blanc, a few of the girls have qualified for states.
Molli Simpson qualified for the Oakland County meet set for the beginning of October for her event the 100 yard butterfly (1:04.04).
She has also helped her 200 medley relay teammates Amber Fullmer and Caitlin John to qualify for the meet after they took first place against North Farmington (2:00.3).
Julia Vela took first in her 200 yard freestyle (2:08.09) and Fullmer in the 50 yard freestyle (27.26).
Chock continues to motivate them by reminding them they are at a higher league.
‘You’re competing against the best. You can’t get any better,? she has told them. ‘We’re there. We are at the big dance, and that’s what’s exciting for this year.?
On Thursday, Chock hopes to qualify another swimmer as they host Birmingham Seaholm. The meet begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Clarkston High School Natotorium.
