Goodrich’s varsity hockey team dropped a 4-1 contest to Swan Valley-Hemlock in a Jan. 6 league game.
The Martians fell to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the league with the loss. Swan Valley-Hemlock scored their first two goals of the game in the first period by virtue of deflections off of Goodrich defenders.
Goodrich scored their lone goal of the game in the first period on a power play goal by Zack Pernack, with assists from Brennen Benedict and Austin Saber. Swan Valley-Hemlock scored one goal each in the second and third periods to put away the victory.
Goalie Michael Underwood made 33 saves for the Martians.
Despite the loss, Goodrich coach Brian Tangney said the Martians are making progress. ‘We continue to improve and are starting to work better as a team,? he said.
