The Representative Council of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) announced last week that the start of spring sports would be delayed until March 22.
Spring sports can begin practicing as early as March 22 with competition expected to begin March 26. Originally, spring sports was set to begin the week prior. The decision to push back the start of spring sports was made to accommodate the later end to the winter sports season.
This change is expected to alleviate pressures on indoor facility usage and athletes changing seasons.
All spring sports tournament dates remain as originally scheduled, with MHSAA Finals in baseball, softball and girls soccer concluding the 2020-21 postseason June 19.
