Special Needs Trunk-or-Treat a Spook-tacular Success

The Lake Orion Special Needs Trunk or Treat provided an opportunity for kids from throughout Lake Orion and surrounding communities to engage in Halloween activities with them specifically in mind.
“The AU Special Needs Foundation along with the Lake Orion United Methodist Church teamed up for yet another great event for our special needs community,” said Mary Vellucci, organizer of the event. “These events allow inclusion for our kids while having a fun and memorable time. Seeing these kids engaging with their peers from our community and the smiles on their faces make it all worth the effort.”
The kids got to scramble for treats, play Halloween games, have lunch and socialize with their friends during the Halloween-themed festivities.
Vellucci credits her volunteers and the community support for making the trunk-or-treat and Halloween party so wonderful for the kids.
“The volunteers range from high school students helping with games and crafts, to local businesses donating food to all the awesome people in the community taking time away from their lives to help by decorating their cars and dressing up, and people donating bags of candy. It truly takes a village and I’m proud to say Lake Orion and Oxford villages are the best!” Vellucci said.
