Brandon Twp.- Henna Eghbalian’s home at the corner of Seymour Lake Road and Sashabaw Road wasn’t peaceful anymore because of traffic. So, she turned it into a salon, with a homey atmosphere.
Sormeh Salon opened Nov. 8 at 3031 S. Sashabaw Road. The salon has dark hardwood floors and warm, sponge-painted walls throughout the first floor rooms.
‘We are located in a residential area and people enjoy coming late at night or early in the morning,? says Eghbalian. ‘It’s convenient and they enjoy the atmosphere. The customers are happy with the service and we guarantee it.?
The salon offers hair cuts, coloring, and highlighting by Eghbalian and two additional stylists- Gina Baril and Joyce Denstedt, as well as manicures, pedicures and acrylic nails by nail technician Kimberly Armstrong. Receptionists Ashley Beck and Eileen Howlett round out the staff.
Eghbalian attended the Michigan College of Beauty and has been a stylist for 18 years.
‘I like to make people feel comfortable and look great,? she says. ‘It’s fun to me to improve people’s look. They do everything better if they feel like they look better.?
Eghbalian immigrated from Iran 20 years ago. Her sister Homa still lives in Iran and owns a bridal shop. At Sormeh Salon, Henna Eghbalian sells glittering bridal hairpieces her sister has handmade with pearls and rhinestones. She hopes to add a dressing room upstairs for bridal parties.
Sormeh Salon also offers facial waxing and Eghbalian is looking to add a staff member to do facials and make-up. She plans to add a line of cosmetics soon. Sormeh carries Schwarzkopf, a line of German hair products designed to make color last and protect against damage, as well as American Crew, Nioxin and Catwalk hair products. For nails, the salon carries OPI, Zoya, and Creative Nail.
‘We’re glad to have a salon in this area,? Eghbalian says. ‘We give awesome results.?
Sormeh Salon is open from 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Satrudays (although appointments can be made for earlier or later times.) The salon is closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, call (248) 628-8009.
