Shooting for new equipment

Sixty-four students participated in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament Friday at Clarkston Junior High School.
The tournament was held to raise money for a new treadmill in the physical education department.
Students from Jon Paddock’s leadership class planned the tournament.
‘The physical education teachers came and asked for assistance to raise money. The class put together a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. It gave the students something fun to do,? said Paddock.
The students raised $500 for the treadmill. They designed T-shirts, sold tickets, and worked at the concession stand.
This is first year for the 3-on-3 fundraiser tournament.
‘It was such a big success,? said Paddock.
They plan to organize a tournament each trimester, and are already thinking about volleyball, flag football and dodgeball.
Winners of the tournament received trophies.
Winners from the eighth grade were Joey Goss, Travis Smith, Alan Kamieniecki and Mitchell Baenziger.
Nick Aguayo, Tim Rogers, Rawley Hallman, and Eric Savoie made up the winning team for the ninth grade.
The class works on projects that benefit their school and the community. A few weeks ago they were in the community working on getting the Renee Przbylski Memorial Spraypark ready to open Memorial Day.
