Shayna bites, news bytes and Jottings gripes

For a recent evening meal I grilled two steaks, one for that dinner and one to slice up for breakfast. The trouble with that scenario is Shayna sits by the grill looking, sniffing and trying to tell me if I give her just one taste, she will forgive all my meanness.
Not getting a bite at the grill, she sits on her haunches by my dining room chair expressing that same, hunger longing, but with more pleading eyes.
Of course I gave in, but only as an experiment.
I decided to conduct a study. I had no grant money like college professors, no backing from dog food manufacturers and no Obama stimulus money. I tackled this task alone.
I cut a piece of steak, put it near her mouth (Shayna doesn’t grab food from my hand, unlike the dogs of our children) and placed it on her tongue.
Now, I was about to prove Shayna doesn’t enjoy food until it is in her belly. I started counting chomps. On the first piece of steak it took 10 chomps before the swallow. The next piece, Shayna chomped 12 times before gulping.
Her facial expression never changed, but her eyes continued to convey ‘begging.? So, it was proven again I can’t satisfy that begging. Now, the next step. How many bites would it take me to enjoy the same size piece of steak before sending it belly-ward.
46!
Me 46, Shayna 10-12. However, I was satisfied with my steak, while Shayna begged for more.

Chain ownership is certainly one of the main reasons for the downfall of the big city, daily newspapers. Corporate management has a bottom-line mentality. They have a predetermined profit percentage. Often when that is not obtained (obtainable?) it’s sell or close.
Oh, yes, yes, I know. There is now electronic communication. I believe, it will be nothing short of a miracle if newspapers can find a way to make money with e-editions or the internet.
I’ve pulled up the e-edition of the Detroit News. Enroute to getting their crossword puzzle, I scan every page. Only headlines are reasonably legible without clicking an enlargement.
And, I haven’t found any headlines that inspired me to click. Besides that, I’m too stubborn and too old to get my daily newspaper by routing it via keyboard.

Of all the presidential administrations the USA has had, only Obama has taken it upon himself to fire the president of a manufacturing company.
Of course, only Obama has given out so much money to so many banks and industries that he feels he, with that type of ownership, has the power and the right.
Is there an unseen, incomprehensible reason behind his actions?

Back in 1957 . . .
‘If they think I’ll pay 50 cents for a haircut, forget it.?
‘No one can afford to be sick anymore; $35 a day in the hospital is too rich for my blood.?
‘Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter??
