The Wolves welcomed Troy to the high school stadium by beating the visiting Colts.
For their first league meet, the Boys Varsity Track team won 72-56.
“We did really well,” said Coach John Bennink. “We had some good performances from the guys.”
Junior Adam Bruderick was one of the standouts for the day, posting a win in the 400 meter dash and one of the team members on the winning 3200 meter and 1600 meter relay teams.
“He is our go to guy this year,” said Bennink. “He is the most consistent athlete on the team. When he does well, we do well.”
Sophomore Sam Tanielian finished first in the in the 1600 meter run in 4:46.9 and Junior Dan Byrne finished first in the 3200 meter run in 10:14.8.
Junior Alan Kamieniecki finished in second place in the 200 meter dash, junior Spenser Pawlik and senior Mike McCord finished second and third place in the 800 meter run.
“They had good races,” said Bennink.
For field events, senior Brian Benway and CJ Gozdor finished first. Benway lept to 18’9″ in the long jump, while teammates sophomore Connor Wiseman and junior Jacob Turner took second and third place.
Gozdor jumped 6’2″ in the high jump.
Junior Matt Wright took second in the shot put and in the discus while teammate junior Colin Kupper took third in both events.
“They help in the throw events and getting points,” said Bennink. “Troy had a couple of good sprinters. We have a few guys that are banged up that can help us.”
The track teams head to West Bloomfield on April 27 where they will take on West Bloomfield and Rochester Adams.
“Our league is going to be pretty competive,” said Bennink. “Rochester and Rochester Adams always have tremendous athletes. West Bloomfield are always good in the sprint event but I think we will hold them down in the distance events. We have a pretty good group of guys. We can only get better. Our discus and shot throwers are on the verge of having a couple of good performers. By time we go against West Bloomfield they should be really confident.”
