Richard Spies, Age 65, died peacefully accompanied by his family on January 8, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born on November 15, 1958, at Lapeer Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan.
He attended Lake Orion High School and continued his education at Wayne State University receiving a bachelor’s degree at their School of Pharmacy. During that time, he met the love of his life in Teresa whom he was happily married to for 42 years.
Richard is survived by his wife Teresa Spies; children, Kenneth Spies of St. Paul, MN and Angela (Tyler Radka) Bussinger of AuGres; mother, Annabelle Spies of Lapeer, MI; siblings, Kenneth E Spies of Lapeer, MI, Sharlene Sheperd of Lapeer, MI, and Linda (Scott) Seaman of Lapeer, MI; his grandchildren, Savanna, Isabella, Matthew, and Michael Bussinger; and all the many treasured friends he made throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by Richard Spies Sr. (Father), Richard Spies III (Son), Phyllis Whitten (Mother-In-Law), Larence Whiten (Father-In-Law), Trevor Spies (Grandson), and many other loved ones.
Richard was a hardworking husband/father who deeply loved his family and providing for them. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included golf, hunting, snowmobiling, car racing, and an admiration for collecting classic cars. He was a member of the Spartan Pharmacy Board, AuGres Men’s Club, and Huron Breeze Golf Club. He was deeply involved and cared immensely for the community he lived in.
Visitation for family and close friends was on Thursday January 11, 2023 from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Buresh Funeral Home in AuGres, Michigan. Public visitation followed with a service at 1 p.m. A reception was at AuGres Inn immediately following the completion of the service.
