Resident begs drivers to slow down

A six-month-old Golden Retriever named Gracie is recovering after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Oxford Twp. last week, and is serving as a much-needed reminder for drivers to slow down on residential streets.
Renee Luxton, who lives on Harwood Dr. just south of Seymour Lake Rd. and east of Sanders, let Gracie outside around 10:30 p.m. March 12 when a speeding vehicle came down their winding road and hit the dog.
She wasn’t even standing in the road, but was on the grassy curb area.
‘They hit the dog and just took off,? Luxton said. ‘They didn’t even stop.?
Gracie suffered broken ribs and internal bleeding, and Luxton thanks God that her dog will be OK.
She can only imagine how it could’ve been worse.
‘If that was a kid, they would’ve been dead,? she said.
Luxton said speeding vehicles have been a regular occurance ‘for years? at all times of the day on Harwood Dr.
Sheriff’s deputies patrol the area, but the speeding hasn’t stopped.
She just wants people to slow down.
‘It’s uncalled for,? she said.
