Malicious mischief: kids use a woman’s home as target practice

Lake Orion police went to Elizabeth Street at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 6 after getting a call from a woman that two young juveniles were shooting a BB gun at her garage.

The youths were described as one wearing a red hoodie and the other a blue hoodie.

Police investigated and recovered a BB gun, an incident report stated.

Follow the light, but not too closely

Police responded to a traffic crash at 12:33 a.m. Sept. 11 at Anderson and Shadbolt streets. A vehicle was turning left and struck a decorative light pole. There were no injuries reported.

Items missing from local business

Lake Orion police are investigating a report that items have been stolen from a local business on Heights Road over the past couple of weeks.

Anyone with information about the thefts should contact the LOPD.

Driver cited for hitting pedestrians

A vehicle hit pedestrians crossing S. Park Boulevard (M-24) at Flint Street around 10:20 p.m. Sept. 12.

A couple was pushing a stroller and legally crossing M-24 at the light when a vehicle turning left off W. Flint Street struck the pedestrians, a police report stated.

There were minor injuries reported and the driver of the vehicle received a traffic citation.

Brazen thief walks right out of Menards with a generator

Detectives are investigating after a man walked into Menards, 465 Brown Rd., on Sept. 6, selected a generator and started walking towards the doors without paying.

An employee stopped the man and asked for a receipt, but the man ignored the employee and walked past all points of purchase without paying for the item.

Employees followed the man outside and got a vehicle plate number.

County prosecutor’s Office denies domestic assault warrant

Deputies spoke with a 52-year-old resident who came into the Orion Twp. Substation at 4:46 p.m. Sept. 6 about a domestic assault incident.

Deputies then went to the 800 block of Kimberly to speak with the 42-year-old roommate. After interviewing both parties and based upon the victim’s statements and the physical evidence, deputies arrested the 52-year-old resident for domestic assault and took the resident to the Oakland County Jail.

The warrant was denied by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office and the suspect was immediately released from jail.

Thieves are caught on camera

A resident on the 2100 block of Huntington called deputies around 2:56 am. Sept. 7 after receiving an alert on his security camera. When the man checked it, he noticed someone actively going through his vehicles in the driveway.

The owner of the vehicle, which was unlocked, stated that he went outside and saw the suspects at his neighbor’s residence. There was no damage to the vehicle.

The owner had surveillance cameras which will be reviewed for possible suspects. Detectives will continue the investigation.

Locked car doors stop thieves

A resident on the 2200 block of Chestnut Circle called police around 3:42 a.m. Sept. 7 after noticing that two males attempted to enter his vehicle but were unable to do so because the doors were locked. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Nearby neighbors had surveillance cameras, which will be reviewed for possible suspects.

Thieves continue to target cars

Deputies went to the 400 block of Hampton Woods Lane at 4:12 a.m. Sept. 7 for larceny from vehicle report. The owner stated that they went to their car around midnight and saw that it had been rummaged through.

The owner discovered that a lug nut key was taken. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Nearby neighbors had surveillance cameras which will be reviewed for possible suspects.

Car break-ins continue

Deputies went to the 2300 block of Findley Circle at 10:07 a.m. Sept. 7 after a vehicle owner said that someone got into her vehicles and stole cash. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Nearby neighbors had surveillance cameras and footage will be reviewed.

Thieves steal man’s wallet

Deputies went to the 2300 block of Finley Circle at 10:34 a.m. Sept. 7 when a homeowner reported that they went to their car in the morning and saw that it had been rummaged through.

The man discovered that his wallet was taken. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Nearby neighbors had surveillance cameras which will be reviewed for possible suspects.

Update to the thefts from vehicles:

Sheriff’s deputies on the midnight patrol attempted to stop a suspicious silver Ford pick-up truck around the time of the thefts. The vehicle did not stop and deputies stopped the pursuit due to safety concerns.

Later, Orion detectives linked the silver pick-up truck description to other crimes in Oakland County and the vehicle was then located abandoned in the City of Pontiac.

Detectives processed the vehicle for trace evidence and found the vehicle had been stolen out of Bloomfield Township and had been re-painted silver.

Upon searching the inside of the stolen vehicle, authorities found several items taken in the Orion Township thefts.

Detectives are continuing with their search to identify those responsible.

Investigation continues in domestic assault incident

A 48-year-old resident went to the Orion Twp. Substation at 6:52 pm. Sept. 8 to report a domestic assault.

The victim said she had an argument with her husband then he pushed her and she fell to the floor. Deputies then went to the 3800 block of Redroot Road to speak with the 56-year-old husband.

All information was turned over to detectives and the incident was forwarded to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Reckless driver refuses PBT

Deputies received a 911 call around 11:31 p.m. Sept. 10 about a vehicle driving recklessly in the Baldwin and Clarkston roads area.

Deputies began searching, located the vehicle and safely stopped the vehicle. Deputies determined the 38-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Deputies requested the driver to submit to a preliminary breath test, which the man refused. The driver was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw and then to the Oakland County Jail. He was to be released in the morning.

Criminal charges will be pending lab results.

Woman receives lacerations after suspected driving drunk crash

A Royal Oak woman who was injured after driving her car off the roadway into the trees was arrested for Operating Under the Influence.

Deputies got a 911 call and went to the 1900 block of Baldwin Road around 2:45 a.m. Sept. 12 for a car crash. When they arrived at the accident, they saw a vehicle in the trees and a 27-year-old woman who had a laceration injury.

Deputies determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and attempted to administer a preliminary breath test to the driver but were unable to do so because of a prior medical condition.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw and then to the Oakland County Jail. Criminal charges will be pending lab results.

Police arrest drunk driver

An area man was taken to jail for Operating under the influence just before midnight on Sept. 12.

Deputies got a 911 call about a vehicle driving erratically in the Joslyn and Greenshield roads area. They stopped the vehicle and after conducting sobriety tests, determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Deputies gave the man a preliminary breath test, which yielded a result of .131 BAC. A BAC of .08 is considered legally drunk in Michigan.

The man was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw and then to the Oakland County Jail. Criminal charges are pending the lab results.
