Employee didn’t like walking papers

Deputies responded to Complete Automation, 1776 Clarkston Rd., at 10:13 a.m. Feb. 18 for a threat complaint and an irate ex-employee.

Deputies spoke with the manager, who said they had fired an employee, a Lapeer man, 40, who became very irate and started yelling and making verbal threats toward employees.

After deputies calmed the situation, they advised the man not to come to the business for any reason. He replied that he understood.

The man was also issued a written trespassing warning as a record of their discussion.

That’s one way to lose extra weight

Deputies were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack, 4852 S Baldwin Rd., at 2:53 p.m. Feb. 19 for a retail fraud that occurred that morning.

Two females had entered the store at approximately 10:48 a.m., proceeded to the kid’s department where they selected several pieces of kids’ merchandise and placed it into their backpacks. The women exited the store, passing all points of purchase without making any attempt to pay for the items.

When confronted by loss prevention, the subjects ran, dropping their backpacks on the ground. A total of $205.76 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.

Deputies checked the area for the known suspects. All information and video collected was turned over to the detective bureau.

No tags doesn’t make them yours

Deputies were dispatched to 4000 block of Baldwin Rd Kohl’s, 4872 S. Baldwin Rd., at 12:38 p.m. Feb. 20 for a retail fraud with a female suspect in custody.

A woman had entered the store, proceeded to the clothing area where she selected several items and then went into the dressing room.

While in the dressing room, she removed the tags and packaging and then placed the clothing in her purse. She then exited the store, making no attempt to pay for the items.

The Clarkston woman, 58, was stopped by loss prevention and escorted back into the office. A total of $324 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.

Deputies are seeking warrants for retail fraud II through the prosecutor’s office.

Three strikes, you’re out

Deputies responded to Menard’s, 465 Brown Rd., at 12:29 p.m. Feb. 21, for a fraudulent check report.

Management reported that on Dec. 24, 2019 a Flint man, 32, came into the store and made three separate purchases, with three different checks, for a total of $879.88.

All three checks were returned by Huntington Bank on Dec. 30, 2019 for nonsufficient funds.

Deputies discovered the man has one felony warrant for non-sufficient funds of $500 or more out of Genesee County.

Thief is singing a new tune

Deputies responded to the 3700 block of Rohr Road at 2:21 p.m. Feb. 21 for a home invasion report.

An Orion Twp. resident, 55, reported an unknown suspect(s) broke into the house and detached shed between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. One guitar was stolen from the home and miscellaneous power equipment was stolen from the shed.

Deputies found no signs of forced entry. Deputies interviewed numerous neighbors and are compiling security camera footage from the area.

An evidence tech was called.

Planning a champagne evening

Deputies responded to Star Market, 3890 Joslyn Rd., at 4:33 p.m. Feb. 21 for a retail fraud report.

Management Market reported two men entered the store at 4:30 pm. One man distracted an employee at the front counter, while the younger man grabbed two large bottles of champagne, valued at $65 each.

Both men ran out of the store past all points of purchase without paying.

The men were observed entering a newer silver Ford Taurus and fleeing northbound on Joslyn Road. The vehicle was described as having larger chrome rims, dark tinted windows and a “fake paper plate.”

First responders aid suicidal woman

Deputies responded to the 1300 block of Joan Drive at 11:19 a.m. Feb. 21 for a suicidal person. The caller advised that her sister attempted to kill herself.

Deputies and the Orion Township Fire Dept. arrived on scene and located the woman, 20, who had superficial cuts to her arms and thighs.

She was transported to St. Joe’s Hospital for medical treatment and a mental health evaluation.

Grand theft auto for real in Orion

Deputies responded to the the FCA Center, 4300 Lapeer Rd., at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23 for a large hole in the fence with tire tracks exiting the facility.

Security reported that they believe new vehicles were stolen from the facility overnight, however they still needed to determine what was missing.

Deputies processed the scene and collected a pair of bolt cutters from the scene.

It was reported that five new vehicles appeared to be missing from the facility yard.

The Oakland County Auto Theft Unit was contacted and will be investigating.

911 is not emergencies only!

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Bellevue at 4:20 p.m. Feb. 23 for a caller who had called 911 to get information regarding a non-emergency nature. The suspicious call prompted deputies to conduct a welfare check on the resident for a possible medical situation.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the Orion Twp. woman, 39, and she assured deputies everything was fine. The woman was instructed on the appropriate use of the 911 emergency system.

About two hours later, the same type of 911 call came in by the same previous caller making political statements.

Deputies again responded and checked the welfare of the resident and she again was fine.

This time the woman was cited her for misuse of the 911 system, given the previous warning.

The 911 caller will now have a court date to explain her side and views to the court.

These buddies are quite the pair

A deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle for failing to stop for the red light at Lapeer and Clarkston roads at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

During the traffic stop, it was discovered the driver did not have a driver’s license and the license plate was issued to another vehicle.

While placing the driver under arrest for warrants out of Tuscola County, another vehicle stopped to help out his friend who was driving the first vehicle.

Deputies spoke with this driver and discovered this driver also was wanted for a felony warrant out of Lapeer County.

Neither driver had a driver’s license and both subjects had bench warrants out for their arrest. Both drivers were arrested and both vehicles were impounded.

 

The Lake Orion Police Department (LOPD)

responded to 96 calls from Feb. 17-23, 2019

They only took the vodka

Lake Orion Police responded to local business on S. Broadway at 8:36 a.m. Feb. 17 for a shoplifting report.

The business reported that four bottles of vodka were taken; the value of each is $59.99.

Police are reviewing store surveillance video. The investigation continues.

Driver sped his way to the drunk tank

A Lake Orion police officer conducting traffic enforcement on M-24 near S. Broadway St. at 2:20 a.m. Feb. 20 observed a northbound vehicle traveling at 50mph, well over the posted 35mph speed limit. The vehicle was having trouble maintaining its lane.

The driver, a Washington State man, 38, was arrested for OWI (operating while intoxicated) with a BAC (blood alcohol content) of .08.

The driver was released once he was at a safe level.
