Safe does a handy disappearing act
Deputies were dispatched to 200 block of Morgan Road at 12:01 p.m. Feb. 10 to speak with a resident regarding a theft of personal property.
Deputies met with the victim, who said that she had hired a handyman to complete some small jobs inside the house. Once the jobs were completed, the Lake Orion woman noticed a small safe was missing from her home.
The victim identified a person of interest who may have had access.
All information and evidence collected was turned over to the detective bureau to continue the investigation.
Woman ends up in jail for treating her family members aggressively
Deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Park Meadow Drive at 5:01 p.m. Feb. 10 for a domestic violence complaint.
Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and spoke with the victims. It was learned that a family member, 37, made threats and then struck another family member.
Deputies placed the aggressor under arrest for felonious assault and transported her to the Oakland County Jail without incident.
A four-count warrant was authorized and signed by 52-3 District Court Magistrate Marie Soma for: assault with a dangerous weapon (felony), first count; assault with a dangerous weapon (felony), second count; and two counts of domestic violence.
Man repurposes household items as weapons — against his wife
Deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Wildwood Court at 6:50 p.m. Feb. 13 for a felonious assault complaint.
Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and spoke with the victim.
It was learned that the woman and her husband had been arguing all day about his drinking when she was assaulted with both a pair of scissors and broken table legs.
Deputies placed the Lake Orion man into custody and collected evidence and pictures of the crimes.
The husband was placed under arrest for felonious assault and transported to the Oakland County Jail.
A warrant for two counts of felonious assault and one count of domestic violence was authorized and sworn to in front of Magistrate Marie Soma at the 52-3 District Court.
The man was given a $20,000 personal bond and prohibited from returning to the residence at this time.
Acquaintance reads it right, calls police to help despondent man
Deputies responded to the 1400 block of Harding Avenue at 7:21 a.m. Feb. 15 for a welfare check on a person at risk of harming himself.
A third-party caller received a video text message showing an acquaintance, an Orion man, 39, taking 20 pills, along with a picture indicating he would harm himself.
Responding deputies located the man, who was obviously under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and despondent.
Deputies de-escalated the situation and called the Orion Twp. Fire Department to the scene.
The man was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment and a mental health evaluation.
Several vehicles are target of vandals
Deputies responded to six damaged vehicle reports from Kern and Orion roads, and north to Beardslee and Porteous streets, off Indian Lake Road, late Friday, Feb. 15th into Saturday, Feb. 16th.
Unknown persons had used a BB or pellet type air gun to shoot at and damage parked vehicles located along the roadsides and in driveways, causing several thousand dollars in damages.
Investigators believe those responsible may have been inside a moving vehicle, however video surveillance also captured footage of three teens walking along Beardslee Drive near Long Lake Boulevard about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16th.
Investigators are requesting assistance from the community in identifying the three young men/teens walking along Beardslee Drive in the early hours of Saturday, Feb. 16th.

Woman speeds into a court date
A Lake Orion police officer was conducting radar surveillance on Atwater Street at 11:33 a.m. Feb. 14 when a vehicle was seen speeding.
Once stopped, it was discovered that the driver, a Lake Orion woman, 43, had a suspended driver’s license.
The vehicle was impounded; the driver was arrested, booked at LOPD and given a court date.
Pulling out in front of a cop without proper distance is never a good idea
A Lake Orion police officer was on northbound M-24 near S. Broadway Street at 9:49 p.m. Feb. 14 when a truck pulled out in front of the officer, failing to yield the right-of-way, almost resulting in collision.
During the traffic stop, the officer determined the driver, a Southfield man, 29, was driving on a suspended license.
The vehicle was impounded; the driver was arrested, booked at LOPD and given a court date.
