Friends and family will gather Sunday, June 8 for a poker run fund-raiser to benefit their friend, son, father and husband who was critically injured after a motorcycle accident April 24 in Lapeer County.
Anthony (Tony) See, a 1962 graduate of Oxford High School, was riding his motorcycle north on Haines Rd. in Mayfield Twp. when the vehicle left the roadway and struck several mailboxes.
The motorcycle then went into a ditch and See was thrown about 40 feet into the air.
See, who currently resides in Lapeer, is in critical condition at the Hurley Medical Center in Flint and cannot speak or walk, but is breathing on his own.
Oxford resident Carol Kuhn, See’s mother-in-law, said the proceeds from the poker run will be used to pay for his mounting medical bills.
See is self-employed and his wife, Lori and 22-year-old daughter Terha, are trying hard to figure out how to pay for the expenses.
‘There’s all kinds of things that just aren’t covered by anything,? she said. ‘It’s just a big mess.?
The poker run will begin at The Oxford Tap (36 S. Washington St.) at Noon (registration begins at 11:00 a.m.) and will end at the Holoway Reservoir picnic area in Columbiaville.
Beginning at the Tap, participants will pick up a map route and one playing card then proceed to the next location. Once a full poker hand is collected, the group will meet at the final location.
Food and refreshments will be available a the final spot, as well as drawings for fun gifts, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Cost for the poker run is $20 per hand.
