Over $8,000 was raised for the American Heart Association by 325 elementary students in Oxford during the first ever district-wide Jump Rope for Heart last Friday.
Students from each elementary school packed the Oxford Middle School gymnasium to participate in various jump roping exercises to promote cardiovascular awareness.
‘We exceeded our expectations and are very pleased with the outcome,? said Shawn Regan, physical education teacher and one of the event coordinators.
‘Raising money was secondary to raising awareness of heart disease throughout our community,? he noted.
Regan would like to thank everyone involved in the event for the huge success.
‘This is proof of what a wonderful community we live in, and we as a school district truly are grateful,? he said.
