ORION TWP. — The Orion Township Clerk’s office needs election inspectors for the 2024 election cycle.
“We need new election inspectors for this 2024 election that’s coming up,” said Orion Township Clerk Penny Shults. “I know I say this at each board meeting but it’s so important. I need about 300 workers. So, we are shy about 125. Spread the word. I have everything available for you. Training is provided. It is a paid position, and we have three elections next year, so if you’re in the community or you know somebody who’s interested in being engaged, please come to the clerk’s office. We want to get you signed up and start with the process.”
Election inspectors will work at a voting precinct on election days and earn $200 per election, according to information on the clerk’s office website.
Election dates in 2024 are: the Presidential Primary Election on Feb. 27; the State Primary Election on Aug. 6; and the Nov. 5 General Election.
Applicants must be registered to vote and able to attend training prior to each election. Ages 16 and up are also eligible to participate.
Anyone interested in becoming an election inspector will have to complete and return a State of Michigan Election Inspector Application form and W-4 Employee’s Withholding Certificate.
Forms are available online at oriontownship.org under the Departments tab on the Clerk’s Office page, or by contacting the Clerk’s Office at 248-391-0304 ext. 4001 to have an application packet mailed directly.
Applicants will be notified via email about training opportunities and additional information.
