OHS choir program finalist in online contest

The Oxford Choir program needs your help to win an online contest.
According to Oxford High School choir director Christopher Card, the program has been selected as one of 12 finalists for Parade Magazine’s ‘America’s Favorite Show Choir? competition.
A show choir is a group of people who combine choral singing and dance movements, sometimes within the context of a specific idea or story.
Card noted Oxford was one of hundreds of nominations the magazine received.
The choir program was nominated based off their version of ‘Anything is Possible,? the theme song from Barnum & Bailey Circus, which they sang during their fall show ‘A Taste of Broadway? on October 20.
Their video can be viewed at www.parade.com/celebrity/2011/10/top-12-show-choirs.html’index=4.
Voting for the competition ends Sunday, Nov. 6 at midnight. To vote, visit www.parade.com and click on the ‘America’s Favorite Show Choir? contest link.
Per contest rules, only one vote is allowed per person.
‘Someone nominated us. I don’t know who,? Card said. ‘We post our videos from different shows and stuff on Youtube, and I imagine it’s one of our fans that would have done it.?
Card found out about the nomination when he was informed by Parade Magazine via email on Tuesday, Nov. 1 their performance was selected as a finalist.
‘You never know who is going to hear you,? Card said. ‘Oxford Choirs has gained a reputation off of that, both nationally and internationally. People hear us and word of mouth gets around, and you get invited here and you get invited there.?
‘So what is happening now on a local level with people talking, it is now happening on a national level,? Card added. ‘It’s one of those things that you never know who is going to hear you and where it will go, and that is why you always put that best foot forward. What I love about Oxford Choirs is that they always do that.?
Parade Magazine will announce the winner on Monday, November 7.
The winning choir will receive a feature piece on the magazine’s website, along with many accolades and bragging rights.
