The Oakland Township Historical Society is pleased to announce they have received a 2008 MotorCities National Heritage Area Grant.
The MotorCities is an affiliate of the National Park Service and is ‘dedicated to preserving, interpreting and promoting the automotive and labor heritage of the State of Michigan.?
This grant was awarded for the Reuther 100 Exhibit, which will open mid-October at the Paint Creek Cider Mill in rural Goodison. The exhibit, which will feature Walter P. Reuther’s life as labor and world leader, is on loan from the Wayne State Univeristy Walter P. Reuther Library.
The OTHS will add to this exhibit with the story of Walter and May Reuther, community leaders in Oakland Township, Oakland County. The Reuthers were residents of the township from 1950 to the time of their deaths in 1970.
