Brandon’s varsity wrestling team placed fifth out of 14 teams at the Mayville Invitational Thursday, Dec. 28.
The Blackhawks placed nine wrestlers in the top six in their respective weight classes. Heading up that list were Jacob Beebe, who finished first at 112 pounds, and Aaron Hyde, who won the 160-pound division.
Zeke Grounds earned a runner-up finish for the Blackhawks in the 275-pound class, while Matt Sweetman earned third place at 103 and Andrew Hyde finished third at 152. Ryan Gibittera notched a fourth-place finish at 135.
Rounding out the Brandon placers were Mike Chartier (103), Sam McGeachy (125) and Ken McNeil (145), all of whom earned sixth place in their respective weight classes.
