I write to congratulate Orion Township on a spectacular success last Friday in the opening of The Miracle League Field at Friendship Park!

Having played a small part in the two-year process that was necessary to make the field a success, it was heartwarming to see Friday’s event come off without a hitch. The laughter and smiles on the faces of the special needs athletes was a clear sign of the complete success of the project.

My congratulations to Brent Wirth from Easterseals of Michigan, Orion Twp. Supervisor Chris Barnett, Independence Twp., LO Palooza, Dutton Farms, The Daisy Project and all the local businesses and individuals who contributed and volunteered to make this dream a reality.

This field will continue to exist as a shining example of what can happen when communities come together to do something for the greater good. It makes me proud and happy to live in a community where such wonderful things can happen.
