Owners Ron and Janna McCann, who have been with Merry Maids since 1994, opened the Clarkston location in September 2003. Since that time, the company has built a loyal client base that reflects the company’s commitment to high quality home cleaning.
‘We definitely have a larger clientele and we have a larger staff now,? said Amy Escobedo, Clarkston branch manager. ‘We have grown so much.?

‘We are looking for a larger, more visible office so we can provide more convenience to our customers,? said Escobedo, who started with Merry Maids in 2001 as a teammate. ‘Our goal is to be able to provide walk-in service.?
Currently, Merry Maids offers many services to clients needing a ‘clean sweep? of their homes. The company specializes in deep cleaning techniques.
‘It’s a more thorough procedure,? McCann said. ‘We have set procedures for each room of the house.?
For regular customers, a rotation approach is taken to a home. A different room is ‘deep cleaned? each time the home is cleaned to keep the spring-cleaning feel fresh all year long. The staff uses a nonabrasive line of products designed especially for Merry Maids.
Carrying out the deep cleaning techniques, and other services, are the highly trained members of the Merry Maid staff.
Known as teammates, the Merry Maid staff members go through intense training to execute the high standards required. Extensive background checks, a day of orientation and two weeks of training are all part of the process to become a Merry Maids teammate servicing the Clarkston area.
‘We look for positive attitudes and work ethics,? said McCann.
Accountability and dependability are traits checked not only by the teammates, but also by their supervisors. At the Clarkston office, Escobedo does random checks of homes to make sure Merry Maids? standards have been followed by the staff.
The quality work atmosphere and company philosophies result in staff members who are proud and happy to represent Merry Maids. Teammates often work their way up to higher positions in the company. Their green and purple uniforms are always easy to identify.
‘We like to promote from within,? said McCann. ‘We don’t want to take away from our employees.?
The Merry Maids Clarkston office is located at 3694 West Clarkston Road and services a large area.
‘We now service both northern Macomb and northern Oakland counties,? said Amy Escobedo, Clarkston branch manager. ‘We’re able to assist our customers in areas not previously served.?
There are no set fees for the services at Merry Maids: costs are based on the contents and conditions of individual homes. Merry Maids often works with other cleaning services, such as those for outdoor windows, to provide a complete service for customers.
‘There’s nothing we won’t clean,? said McCann. ‘If we can’t do it, we’ll find someone else who can.
