Two homeowners on Bellevue Island were rather surprised when a unknown man appeared in their homes during the evening hours on April 12.
Michael Schannon, 54, of Silverwood pled guilty at pre-trial to a charge of illegal entry on April 29. His sentence is pending.
The first incident on the island happened around 8:15 p.m. A woman was unloading groceries from her vehicle in her garage when Schannon came into the garage.
According to the police report, the man had money in his hand and asked the woman, ‘where’s the man.? She called to her husband who persuaded Schannon to leave.
He then moved onto another home and walked into the house through the front door. Several people were in the house.
The police report said the homeowner asked what Schannon was doing there and he mumbled something about being the installer of the floors in the home. The homeowner said no he wasn’t and told Schannon to leave.
The police officer arrested Schannon before he left the island. When asked what he was doing on the island, Schannon pulled out a screwdriver and told the officer he was helping the power company chip ice off of power lines. Schannon was housed in the Oakland County Jail that night.
Lake Orion Police also had an open warrant out on Schannon for a previous incident that took place in the village in October 2001.
LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh said the warrant was for being a disorderly person at the Sagebrush Cantina on South Broadway.
‘He was bothering customers and management,? Narsh added. ‘He was disorderly with the officer also.?
Schannon, who remains in jail, pled guilty at pre-trial to the disorderly charge on April 30. Sentencing is pending.
‘Alcohol was a factor in both incidents,? Narsh said. ‘Schannon has an extensive criminal history.
