A 26-year-old Brandon Township man was arraigned Dec. 10 on a charge of breaking and entering after another man recognized his picture in The Citizen.
Michael Lee Friske was arraigned in front of 52-3 District Court Judge Nancy Tolwin Carniak on the charge, which stemmed from the break-in of an Orion Township dollar store in May.
Brandon Detective Chris Pacholski received a call from a witness on Sept. 19 who said he saw Friske’s photo in The Citizen, accompanying an article about Friske’s attack on a woman in the Clarkston Lakes Mobile Home Park (‘Township man arraigned in attack,? Sept. 15, page 4) and wanted police to know Friske was responsible for a break-in in Orion Township, too.
According to police reports, further investigation found the witness overheard a conversation between his friend and Friske that happened the night of the break-in, when Friske came to his friend’s mobile home covered in blood after he cut himself breaking into the Discount Dollar store at the corner of Baldwin and Waldon roads. Two safes were taken in the incident, one containing $550. Blood was recovered from the incident in May and is currently being examined to see if it is a match to Friske. A broken safe was found at Friske’s home on Sept. 5 after his assault on the woman.
Friske remains in Oakland County Jail on $1 million bond after Sixth Circuit Court Chief Judge Wendy Potts denied a reduction in bail regarding the assault, for which he will stand trial Feb. 4.
