Lucky’s Natural Foods open house celebrates 45th anniversary

Lucky’s Natural Foods is celebrating 45 years of business in downtown Lake Orion with a ribbon cutting and open house from 4-7 p.m. Thursday.

The open house will have a raffle for a gift basket and guests who visit Lucky’s Facebook page can download a coupon for additional savings off of one item.

“My parents – John and Judy Luchkovitz – started it in November 1974,” said Tanya Luchkovitz, who has owned Lucky’s since 1993. Prior to owning the story, Tanya was the manager. “It’s a family business.”

The store was originally called Lucky’s Produce, Plants and Flowers. Before moving into its downtown location, Tanya’s parents ran produce stands at various intersections around Lake Orion, she said.

Lucky’s is the oldest health food store in northern Oakland County, offering supplements, vitamins, minerals, homeopathic remedies, natural foods, cruelty-free body care products, health and vegetarian foods and household and pet supplies.

The Orion Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority will attend the open house for the ribbon cutting and recognition ceremony.

Lucky’s Natural Foods is at 101 S. Broadway St. – J.N.
