Losing streak ends for Cagers

The Lady Wildcats rose out of their losing streak to find victory against the Holly Bronchos.
Holly opened the competition fast with eight points in the first quarter, but Oxford came back from behind to out shoot the Bronchos in the second and pull ahead by the end of the third. Oxford wom the night 40-32.
Leading the way for Oxford was Megan Bono and Kalyn Cookingham, each with eight points; Denise Spratley with seven; Jenni Rhodes with six; Vanessa Collier and Megan Stumph each with four; and Shannon Gerbe with three.
The Lady Cats also had a good showing on the line with Cookingham going 4 for 4, Collier 2 for 2 and Rhodes 6 for 9. Top rebounds for the evening came from team captains Spratley, with eight, and Gerbe, with six.
“Shannon Gerbe coming in seconds with rebound is spectacular,” said Graves. “She was excellent defensively for the night.”
Graves added that she was impressed with her four players that simply had an overall great game – Collier, Rhodes, Cookingham and Bono.
Oxford sits 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the Flint Metro League as they prepare to face Lapeer East at home on Thursday.
