Dragons shut down Oxford with decisive 43-30 victory
Lake Orion’s boys basketball team hosted Oxford High School on Thursday night for another OAA Blue division match-up that resulted in a Dragon victory of the Wildcats 43-30.
Lake Orion had a strong showing, taking the lead early on and never looking back. A handful of fouls early on in the first quarter allowed the Dragons to pull away, finding themselves up by ten entering the second half.
Leading scorers for the Lake Orion was junior Alden Ritt with 13 points, followed by Xander Blackney who contributed nine.
On Friday the boys traveled to Lapeer High School adding another win to their record with a 44-40 victory of the Lightning.
Ritt again lead the Dragons in scoring with 10 points. Senior Andrew Bryant added eight points, junior Malachi Grandberry chipped in seven and senior William McClear contributed six.
“It was a good team win; we played a lot of guys,” said LO head coach Joel Schroeder. “Our starters got going in the second half. This was a tough game on a back-to-back. I’m proud of all these guys and how they compete,” Schroeder said.
The boys headed to Ferndale on Monday for a non-league game against the Driving Eagles., heading home with an impressive 63-36 victory.
Lake Orion is currently 10-2 overall and holds first place in the OAA Blue Division with a 5-1 record.
The Dragons are back in action on Thursday night at Adams High School. — M.K.
