The Lake Orion boys and girls varsity skiing teams competed in the 2021 Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1, Region 2 state playoffs, racing at Mt. Holly on Feb. 10.
The boys team finished in fourth place out of 14 teams with 91 Slalom points and 72 Giant Slalom points and 163 points overall. Clarkston finished in third place with 130.5 points overall.
Rochester Adams’ and Bloomfield Hills’ teams dominated the regional, tying for first place at 46 points overall. Bloomfield Hills was ranked first in the results after finishing with a lower score (22 to 30; lower score is better) than Rochester Adams in the Slalom race.
Lake Orion’s Ryan Stimac finished in ninth place overall in the boys’ Slalom race, with a combined result of 58.24 over the two races. Stimac also finished sixth overall in the Giant Slalom, with a combined race result of 43.98.
The Lake Orion girls finished in ninth place overall out of 11 teams. The Dragons finished with 256 points overall, but did not have any individual racers finish in the top 10 in either the Slalom or Giant Slalom.
Clarkston won the girls race with 30 points overall; Rochester Adams was second at 96 points overall; and Fenton, Linden, Lake Linden finished in third at 156 points.
