Lake Orion Community Education’s acrylic painting class has been meeting on Thursday mornings at the CERC building throughout the summer.
The group of adult students are taught by accomplished local artist Dorthy Sedlock. Sedlock, who was recently awarded second place at the Orion Art Center’s Anything Goes exhibit, tasked her students with creating plein air (outdoor) style paintings of local landmarks from around Lake Orion.
The group of 20 landmark paintings consists of downtown buildings, Snug Harbor, Canterbury Village, local parks and more.
This group of artists were recently named the Orion Township Public Library’s guest artists for the month of July.
“This particular group (of art) are paintings from around Lake Orion so it’s fun for patrons to stop and see, it’s a special exhibit,” said Administration Assistant for the library Joyce Becker.
Each month the Orion Twp. Library displays a new guest artist(s) in their front lobby.
Their featured guest artist(s) are often so popular that the library is looking into adding a second location within the library, Becker said.
These local paintings can be viewed until July 31.
