The Lake Orion boys track team continued its undefeated streak in dual meets with an easier-than-expected victory over Rochester High School on April 17.
The Dragons dominated the Falcons, winning 102-26.
“But as always we work toward improvement, and in this case, we didn’t have to overload athletes to win, so they could work on their specialty and try to get better,” said Head Coach Stan Ford.
Senior Captain Thomas Moreman was a double winner in both hurdle races, but wasn’t needed to high jump or run in a relay. Andrew Nolan won the 1,600m run, and then came back in the winning 1,600m relay along with Ryan Mulcahy, Xavier Nunley and Nicholas Laurent, Ford said.
Nunley and Laurent were also on the winning 3,200m relay team with seniors Brett Earnest and Nicholas Wolf. Ryan Mulcahy won the 800m run.
Senior Matt Freeman won the 100m dash and was on the winning 400m relay team with Dillion Altman, Sanai Pillot and Amaru Abdul-Raheem. Abdul-Raheem also won the long jump.
Freshman Hong Bing Tang won the 3,200m run, and fellow freshman Adam Hafeli earned his first varsity points by placing second.
Sebastian Marku was a double winner in the shot put and discus.
The team will compete in the 57th annual Elmer Ball Invitational at Oxford High School on Saturday. Field events begin at 10 a.m. and track events begin at 10:30 a.m. – J.N.
