LO Rotary, Art Center donate to ‘Sharing and Caring’ program

Each year, the Lake Orion Sunrise Rotary Club helps out at the Orion Art Center’s Dragon on the Lake festival by manning the docks at the Dragon Boat Races and help run the 50/50 raffles.
“They also make a $500 donation and earmark it for us to give back to a cancer-related cause each year,” said Art Center Executive Director Karin Starick.
“In 2018, we decided to give it to Beaumont Health’s Sharing & Caring Program, which is a non-profit organization devoted to the education and support of breast cancer survivors. It brings women of all ages together through awareness, strength and support for the survivors and their families at the time of diagnosis, during treatment, and beyond. All are welcome and services are free of charge, so they rely on donations to keep the program going,” Starick said.
The donation was presented to Lindsey Burcar, program coordinator for Sharing & Caring, on Feb. 21.
