Linda Lee Nixon; of Lake Orion; age 82; passed away on January 20, 2022. Linda was the beloved wife of the late Lance R. Nixon; loving mother of Lori (Robert) Hardt, Lisa Nixon Doane and Lynette Nixon; loving grandmother of Cassidy (Nate) Ziegelbaur and Madison Doane; dear sister of Joy (Jerry) Mausolf, Robert (Sue) Moehlman, James (Linda) Moehlman and Larry (Gail) Moehlman; and close companion of Gracie the dog. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Linda was dedicated to her family, friends, community, and her church.
She was one of the longest-standing members of the Lake Orion United Methodist Church where she loved participating in church activities. She was a1957 graduate of Lake Orion High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and at the age of 40 earned her master’s degree from Wayne State University.
After several years as a public school teacher, she spent 22 years as the children’s librarian at Orion Township Public Library where she developed several programs such as the summer reading program and toddler time. Linda had a lifetime filled with community service including Jaycees, Girl Scouts, and Redbird to name a few. She enjoyed her Thursday Ladies Group and loved spending time with her Card Club friends of over 60 years. Linda was a wonderful person, and she will be missed by all of her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11 am at the Lake Orion United Methodist Church in Lake Orion. The family will welcome friends for visitation before the service at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Orion United Methodist Church or the Orion Township Public Library
