Icers turned the negative note they started last week and fine tuned it in a win by Saturday night.
They defeated Troy-Athens, 4-1.
Senior Brad Pizzey led the team going into the first period to score.
Dillon Drayer scored next and by the time Connor Hughes scored the third goal for the Wolves, Athens was done for.
The final goal from Josh Sowers in the third period sealed the Wolves’ fate and sent Troy-Athens packing.
Chad Wotton had two assists and Macario Torres and Brad Pizzey had one each.
The boys put 52 shots on the net and goalie Alec Gildner had eight saves.
Clarkston lost to Plymouth-Salem on Thursday night, 8-3.
Salem scored two goals two minutes into the game, putting the boys defense up.
Pizzey narrowed the score, putting the puck in the net with 8:23 remaining in the first period on a power play.
Torres tied the scored halfway through the second period. Salem took control back, scoring with 20 seconds left.
“They worked hard the first and second period to get back in the game,” said Coach Bryan Krygier. “We pretty much gave them the game in the third period.”
Adam Bruderick scored at the top of the final period, with assist from Hughes and Wotton.
Salem turned it around scoring five goals on nine of their shots on goal in the final period.
Krygier didn’t know what had happened during the game.
“They just aren’t playing for some reason. They stopped playing, they stopped working and made bad decisions with the puck,” he said.
Troy Fasseel had 31 saves during the first two periods. Gildner saved four shots in the third period.
Clarkston made 24 shots on goal, the loss put their overall record at 3-3.
The boys host Farmington (6-0) on Thursday, at 5:45 at Detroit Skate Club. They lost to them on Nov. 27, 3-0.
“They need to come with a good attitude, willing to work and wanting to make a difference or else we are going to keep going downhill,” said Krygier.
The Wolves head to North Farmington for their Saturday game, 7 p.m.
