• Prayer and Memorial: 9 a.m. at Eastlawn Cemetery on Orion Road, just south of Atwater Street on the west side of Orion Road.
• 3rd annual Orion Veterans Memorial Day 5k Run/Walk: The race begins at 9 a.m. and will start/finish on Anderson Street adjacent to the Children’s Park parking lot.
Day of check in will take place at 20 Front Street starting at 8 am. Entry fee is $25 per person, $20 for active military personnel and veterans. Day of registration increases $5.
Each participant will receive an event dog tag at the finish.
Registration and packet pickup available noon – 4 p.m. May 26 at Hanson’s Running Shop on the corner of Flint and Broadway streets.
Event proceeds to support the long-term sustainability of the Orion Veteran’s Memorial.

• American Legion Wreath Ceremony: 10 a.m. on the Paint Creek bridge in Children’s Park across from the American Legion Post 233 in downtown Lake Orion.
• Memorial Day Parade: 11 a.m. in downtown Lake Orion. The parade starts at Blanche Sims Elementary. The route is Florence Street to E. Flint Street, west to Broadway Street, north to Elizabeth Street.
• Veterans Memorial Service: 1 p.m. at the Orion Veterans Memorial located on M-24 (Lapeer Rd) at Heights Road. — J.N.
