Lake Orion High School Robotics Team 302 is victorious in their first district competition of the season

Dragons also took home the Imagery Award in the 38 team field of competitors

JACKSON, Mich. – Only a week into the competition season and the Lake Orion High School Robotics Team 302 has soared above the competition.
The Dragons attended a FIRST in Michigan District competition from March 2-4 in Jackson and after 12 qualification matches the team ranked first among all 38 teams.
As the captain of the first-place alliance, Team 302 partnered with Team 4381 of Richland, Team 4453 of Marshall and Team 9210 of Jackson to power through seven elimination matches.
Eventually, the first alliance met the eighth alliance—Team 3322 of Ann Arbor, Team 9312 of Albion and Team 7501 of Brooklyn—in the finals, defeating them 2-0 and winning the competition.
Team 302 left the event with a record of 16-2-1, and their highest-scoring match totaled 131 points, the second-best of the tournament.
The Dragons also walked away with the Imagery Award, which celebrates attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration of machine and team appearance.
The Dragons competed from March 16-18 at the FIRST in Michigan, Standish-Sterling Event.
