Three LO divers qualify for regional meet
ORION TWP. — The Lake Orion Boys Swim and Dive team wrapped the regular season finishing in fifth place in the OAA Red Division Championships at home from Feb. 21-23.
Finishing in the top 16 to earn points for the Dragons during the meet were: in the 50-yard freestyle, Aiden Perez in 10th place in the time of 22.83; Cayden Womack, 13th, 23.09;
100-yard butterfly, Henry Fokken, fifth, 53.85; Drew Bronczyk, seventh, Colin Steffens, 11th, 56.19;
100-yard freestyle, Maddox LaMothe, eighth, 48.48; Womack, 15th, 50.94; Jack Jones, 16th, 51.61;
100-yard backstroke, Perez, sixth, 53.94; 100-yard breaststroke, LaMothe, third, 1:01.08; Gavin Accardo, fifth, 1:02.41; Samuel Erwin, 15th, 1:06.76; 200-yard freestyle, Bronczyk, ninth, 1:49.82; Henry Fokken, 10th, 1:49.98; Anderson Fokken, 11th, 1:50.17; 200-yard IM, Accardo, 10th, 2:04.71; Steffens, 14th, 2:10.45; and 500-yard freestyle, A. Fokken, eighth, 5:00.71.
The 200-yard medley relay team with Perez, Accardo, H. Fokken and LaMothe finished in fourth place in the time of 1:38.91. The team of Womack, Bronczyk, Jones and Perez also finished in fourth in their relay event, the 200-yard freestyle in 1:30.69. The 400-yard freestyle team of Womack, Bronczyk, H. Fokken and LaMoth finished in sixth place, 3:20.00
For 1-meter diving, Keegan Heileman finished in third place with 386.25 points after 11 dives. Matthew Schwarzenberger finished in fifth place, 358.45; Jimmy Jones, ninth, 176.70; and Tyler Mollan, sixth, 270.15.
Birmingham Seaholm finished the meet in first place with 411.5 points; Farmington, second, 347; Groves, 340.5; Rochester Adams, fourth, 327; Lake Orion 283; and Rochester, sixth, 209.
Heileman, Mollan and Schwarzenberger qualified for dive regionals and head to the MHSAA Division 1 Boys Swim and Dive State Championship this Friday and Saturday at Oakland University.
