Lake Orion High School’s girls varsity basketball team had a packed schedule this week taking on four teams in a matter of days.
The run began on March 9 with a re-match at home against Rochester High School where the Dragons came away with another victory over the Falcons 37-30. Senior and captain Meghan Marshall led the Dragons in scoring with 12 points. Junior Olivia Peplowski chipped in six points while sophomore Taylor Dinda added five points, seven rebounds and four steals.
The next day the ladies hosted Lapeer High School, snagging another victory 37-24 over the Lightning. Peplowski led in scoring with 15 points and sophomore Maddie Ebbert contributed 12.
On Friday, the ladies headed to Avondale continuing their winning streak with an impressive 56-33 victory over the Yellow Jackets. Junior Katie VanHeck led the Dragons in scoring with 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophmore Ebbert chipped in seven points and 8 rebounds while fellow sophomore Dinda contributed eight rebounds and two steals.
Lake Orion also saw several JV players get the taste of varsity play with sophomores Chloe Wiegers dropping 11 points and Jody McCaffery and Audrey Wischmeyer adding seven respectively.
The ladies hit the road for a non-league rival match-up against the Clarkston High School Wolves, falling to the OAA Red’s current second place holder 56-32. Van Heck led in scoring again with 11 points. Ebbert pitched in six while Dinda added five.
The Dragons take on Berkley High School at home on Thursday. — M.K.
