Boys track and field team takes second

Lake Orion High Schools varsity track and field teams headed to Clarkston High School on May 28 for the Oakland County Championship track meet where the girls took home the championship trophy and the boys took second.

The girl’s had three Oakland County Champions, Alayna Tisch in the 300m hurdles, Sophie Novak in the 1,600m run, and Cate Leonhard in the long jump. All three also took home 2nd place medals; Tisch in the 100m dash, Novak in the 3,200m run and Leonhard in the pole vault.

The 4 x 100m relay team was second, with Natalie Keogh, Mecayla Long, Tisch and Leonhard.

Keogh and Long joined Cadence Teasley and Ella Spiers for a 4th place 4 x 200m relay.

Tisch and Novak joined Grace Winkler and Sophie Sally for 3rd place 4 x 400m relay.

Boys Track & Field

On the boys side, Stephen Brown won the 100m dash and was 2nd in the 200m dash.

Brown then joined Joey Thede, Raymond Payne and Ben Bojanowski to finish 2nd in the 4 x 100m relay, and 2nd in the 4 x 200m relay.

The 4 x 800m relay of Carson White, Will Houvener, Nicholas Laurent and Luke Peardon finished 3rd, and the same group was 8th in the 4 x 400m relay.

Caleb Jones finished 3rd in the long jump, while teammate Joey Owczarek was 4th.

Earlier in the week, Lake Orion’s ninth-grade track and field team headed to Milford High School where both teams finished 4th in the Oakland County Championship qualifier meet.

Sofi Sally was the only Oakland County Champion, finishing 1st in the 300m hurdles and 5th in the 100m high hurdles.

Bella Delong had a great day on the girl’s side. A two-foot personal record in the shot put garnered her a 2nd place medal and she also took 2nd in the discus.

Maddie Feurig, Lauren Dumeah, Alex Jones and Sally ran to a 3rd place finish in the 4 x 400m relay.

Medalists on the boys side included the 4 x 100m relay team of Mauricio Silva, Andrew Drakos, Raymond Payne and Adam Pawlikowski that finished 3rd. The same group was 4th in the 4 x 200m relay.

The 4 x 800m relay finished 3rd, with Jack Logsdon, Cooper Plehn, Kenny Locke and Ben Redmon. Redmon ran with Maurico Silva, Tanner Stewart and Adam Pawlikowski on the 5th place 4 x 400m relay.

Drakos was 4th in the 300m hurdles and 6th in the 110m high hurdles.
