The Lady Wolves held on as they went into their third overtime against Troy-Athens.
But after the Red Hawks made four consecutive baskets and a 3-pointer in the Jan. 4 game, Clarkston lost 39-31.
‘The effort was definitely there and it wasn’t lacking,? said Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach Tim Wasilk. ‘However we didn’t knock any shots down. It’s tough to win a game when the shots are falling. I was pleased with the effort. We definitely had chances to win. We just need to execute our plays better and take care of the ball.?
Kaleigh Kenny led the team and scored 11 points in her first game back for the season and had six rebounds.
Megan Hastings added eight points, two were field goals. Anna Manilla had seven rebounds.
‘It was a very competitive game and we had an opportunity to win it,? added Wasilk.
The girls lost to North Farmington on Thursday, 47-41.
Christina Jokisch and Hastings led the team with 10 points. Jokisch had 11 rebounds. Manilla added eight points and Delaney Kenny had seven.
‘We played extremely hard and played the ball better,? said Wasilk. ‘We matched up on both ends of the floor . I was pleased with the effort and the directions the girls are heading.?
The girls face two league foes this week. They played Southfield-Lathrup on Tuesday and head to Rochester on Friday.
‘They are both well-coached and will both be competitive games,? Wasilk noted. ‘We will see what we can do and prepare for both teams in the right way.?
JV begins at 5:30, varsity follows.
The girls head to Davison next Tuesday, where JV begins at 6 p.m. with varsity following.
