The Brandon volleyball team got back on the winning track in Flint Metro League action Jan. 26 against Linden.
It took three games to get the job done, but the host Blackhawks defeated the Eagles 8-15, 16-14, 16-14, improving their record to 9-16-3 overall and 2-4 in the league.
The Blackhawks had a successful day hosting the Brandon Invitational Saturday, Jan. 24, earning a 5-3 record in pool play for a second place finish.
Brandon defeated Lake Orion 26-24, 25-22, and split with the rest of the field ? against Jackson (8-25, 25-18), Imlay City (25-11, 18-25) and Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes (25-27, 25-15).
In their final game of the day, the Blackhawks lost their playoff matchup against Warren Woods Tower in three games, 22-15, 25-21, 9-15.
Brittany Kelley was 10-of-10 passing with eight digs and eight service points on 100 percent serving, while Jessica Wise added seven service points and eight kills for the Blackhawks.
Other Brandon contributors were Meredith Dura (13 service points) and Sandra Oliver (11 digs).
In league action Jan. 22, the Blackhawks dropped a two-game match to host Holly 15-13, 15-7.
Brandon travels to Oxford Monday, Feb. 2 for a 7 p.m. matchup.
