Hungry Howie’s Pizza expands

Groveland Twp.- Locals will soon have two locations from which to order Hungry Howie’s Pizza.
Brothers Steve, Mike and Jim Peterson opened the Hungry Howie’s located at 280 N. Ortonville Road (near Bueche’s), under their ownership on Oct. 21, and by mid-December plan to open another location in Brandon Township, at 3980 S. Ortonville Road, next to Mazza.
‘We like this community,? said Mike Peterson. ‘We like to be involved as much as possible with the community and do fundraisers and that is harder to do with big cities. This is a homey-type town and very friendly.?
The brothers opened their first Hungry Howie’s franchise, in Waterford, in 1984. They now own 10 stores.
At the Groveland store, they have done some basic remodeling and renovations to improve efficiency and have also retrained the employees, focusing on customer service. The Petersons are currently taking employment applications.
‘We built our stores on great food, great service, a clean image and professional operation,? says Mike Peterson.
Hungry Howie’s is famous for their flavored pizza crusts, which include butter, butter cheese, garlic herb, ranch, onion, sesame, cajun and original. Specialty pizzas include meat eaters, bacon cheddar cheeseburger, Philly steak, BLT, deluxe Hawaiian, and the Howie Special, with pepperoni, mushroom, ham, green peppers and onion. Oven-baked calzone subs are also popular, and Peterson says he tries not to be biased, but believe Hungry Howie’s has the best buffalo-style chicken wings. A variety of salads are available and they are known for their three-cheeser bread, which goes well with their garlic cream cheese dip.
‘We’re recruiting new customers,? says Peterson. ‘Give us an opportunity to earn your trust and business.?
