Helping the library grow

Since May, the Independence Township Public Library has looked a little different – new plants cover Peter Rabbit’s garden near the main entrance.
Second-graders from Springfield Plains Elementary helped the Clarkston Garden Club with the changes.
On May 27 they arrived at the library for their Academic Service Learning project – bringing seedlings with them to plant. They weeded the garden and planted their seedlings. Also, they learned more about the gardens, invasive weeds and about different plants.
The Clarkston Garden Club provided a snack for the students – muffins made with marigolds and refreshing lavender lemonade.
