Seniors Sloan Hadsall and Alex Popp began their first week on the mat undefeated during their seven matches.
Hadsall took on runner-up state champion Kyle March from Goodrich in the Goodrich Dual Meet. He beat him by one point, after pinning Mayville.
Popp speed was quick as he pinned both his competitors in the dual meet within the first period.
The Wolves won their meet against Mayville, 50-23, and lost to Goodrich, 48-18.
‘The guys wrestled hard. They really did in both of our meets,? said Wrestling Varsity Coach Joe DeGain. ‘I am proud of the guys. We put our guts out on the table.?
We had some real exciting things happen ? Kyle Broughton won his first two varsity matches, Mike Richmond beat a very good heavyweight from Mayville, Ty Foltz beat another state qualifier from Mayville.?
Scoring against Mayville was Matt Deitz (140) and Spencer Karrick (160) with a pin they made in the first period.
Evan King (152) also beat Mayville. He was already ahead in points before Donald Bennett was disqualified from a penalty.
Mike Henige (125) beat Bryce Montgomery from Goodrich, 7-1.

The Wolves wrestled in their first invitational on Saturday at John Glenn High School and took third place.
They defeated Romeo, Belleville, Dearborn and Livonia Franklin and lost to John Glenn High School.
Going undefeated for the event were Hadsall (189), Popp (145), and Chris Burkhart (140)
Jeff Sloney (112), Dietz (135), Ty Foltz (130), and King (152) were 4-1 on Saturday.
‘There are some tough kids down there,? said DeGain before the meet. ‘They might not be the most skilled wrestlers but they are fighters and really like to get after you. So we have to be ready to go toe-to-toe with them. They are going to come at us with everything they’ve got.?
The Boys B Team also wrestled in their first invitational and took seventh place.
Placing for the day were Naron McDougal and Spencer Karrick in first place, Kyle Broughton in third, and Scott Devos in fifth.
‘We are still becoming a disciplined team,? he said. ‘We have a few hiccups we are working on. We are gelling all of the pieces together right now and once we do and continue to put our guts out ? we will be just fine and ready for a great season.?
The boys host the league opener on Wednesday against West Bloomfield and Avondale.
‘By then we should have all of our pieces glued together and all of our problems taken care of,? said DeGain.
The dual meet begins at 5:30 p.m.
