Girls varsity track team wins 3rd consecutive regional title

10 girls qualify for state meet

Lake Orion’s girls track team won its third consecutive MHSAA Region 9 Track and Field Championship on Friday.
The ladies defeated 14 teams with an overall score of 119 followed by Grand Blanc in second with 84 points and in third place Clarkston with 67 points.
This meet also determines state qualifiers for each of the 17 events. Lake Orion had ten atheletes qualify to compete at the Division 1 State Meet on June 1.
These ten athletes include:
• Senior Madison Eaton in the 100m dash, 100m and 300m hurdles.
• Senior Melissa Symons in the 4x100m relay, 100m and 300m hurdles.
• Junior Sarah Griffin in the pole vault and long jump.
• Sophomore Sophie Novak in the 4x800m relay, 800m and 1600m run.
• The 4x100m relay consisting of Makayla Allen, Alayna Tisch, Shantel Stanley and Symons.
• The 4x800m relay consisting of Olivia Ames, Josie Arnold, Allison Sherman and Novak.
Next stop is Clarkston High School on May 24 for the Oakland County Meet.
